About the knowledge test (G1/Class 7) in Ontario
Ontario's G1 test has 40 multiple-choice questions in two sections — 20 on road signs and 20 on rules of the road — and you must score 80% on each section separately. It's based on the Official MTO Driver's Handbook. G1 holders must keep zero blood alcohol and drive with a fully licensed driver.
The written knowledge exam in Ontario checks that new drivers understand road signs, right-of-way rules, speed limits, alcohol limits and safe-driving behaviour. This practice test covers the national core rules that appear on Canada knowledge exams. Ontario may add local rules and limits — review the official handbook from your provincial licensing office for Ontario-specific details before test day.
